Origin: Theron was born in Benoni, in the then-Transvaal Province of South Africa, the only child of Gerda Jacoba Aletta (née Maritz and Charles Jacobus Theron (born 27 November 1947). Her father is of French descent and her mother of German descent French Ancestry Paternal side German Ancestry Maternal side.
Education: Theron attended Putfontein Primary School (Laerskool Putfontein). At thirteen, Theron was sent to boarding school and began her studies at the National School of the Arts in Johannesburg.

Career highlights:

Charlize Theron became a fashion model at age 14 and at 16 she entered a Johannesburg modeling contest, which she won. She  also won a one-year modeling contract at a local competition in Salerno and with her mother moved to Milan, Italy.
After Theron spent a year modeling throughout Europe, she and her mother moved to USA. In New York, she attended the Joffrey Ballet School and in 1994, Theron flew to Los Angeles.

Charlize Theron was born  in Benoni (South Africa) and was raised on a farm outside the city.
Theron became a U.S. citizen in 2007, while retaining her South African citizenship. 
In the 1990s, Theron had a two-year relationship with actor Craig Bierko and  dated  Stephan Jenkins (1997 - 2001). In 2002 she began a relationship with Irish actor Stuart Townsend, with whom she starred in Trapped (2002) and Head in the Clouds (2004). After nearly nine years together they  separated in January 2010. 
In early 2014, she began dating actor Sean Penn, but they had split in June 2015.
Theron has two adopted children. In March 2012 she adopted a boy, whom she named Jackson Theron (b. November 2011) 
In July 2015 she adopted a girl, whom she named August.
Her first language is Afrikaans, she has a green eyes and Danced professionally.
Activism: Theron is also a philanthropist and social activist. In 2008, she was honored by the United Nations when she became the organization's tenth messenger of peace. She created own charity called the Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project (CTAOP), which helps African youth in their fight against AIDS. Theron is involved in women's rights organizations and  also is a supporter of animal rights as active member of PETA.
