Sub specie Absolutus - Under the aspect of Absolute

Eiffel Tower - a masterpiece or “colossal vulgarity.”

The English poet and artist William Morris (1834–1896)
certainly disliked the Eiffel Tower.  He wrote:
"Coming to Paris, I usually have my  lunch at the  restaurant
in Eiffel Tower...

This is the only place where this monstrous structure
is not seen from».

This quote is also attributed to the writer
Guy de Maupassant (1850—1893),
who did dine regularly at the tower restaurant to avoid
having to gaze upon its “colossal vulgarity.”
